Berlin Pictures and Video by Tomasz
MadonnaTribe reader Tomasz wrapped up his how Celebration Tour with the Madonna concert at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin last night.
Hi there MT team!
Here’s a glimpse into my 5th and final Celebration concert last night in Berlin.
Berlin was covered with snow yesterday, -2C, what was actually the first snow in the city this late Autumn. Doors opened at 7:30pm and there was a pure madness, something you wouldn’t expect from Germany. I hoped everything would be well organised but actually there wasn’t one line for GA/GC audience, but instead just as many lines as the doors to the arena. Just like in 2015 some people waited for long, some didn’t if they took a chance on doors on the right hand sight…
The support act was the one and only Stuart Price and he played bits from Confessions… but also remixed few classics like What it feels like… or Rescue me. At the end he even shook a hand with one fan waiting near the stairs to the main stage.
Bob started at around 10:15pm, joking ie. about looking German husband. He even asked one speechless fan if it’s the first time he sees a black guy or is it his first encounter with a drag queen haha!
Otherwise concert went abruptly and according to the plan for the most part. Standard outfits were back in the game, though changes to Nothing Really Matters kept. She also surprised us with long straight hair in the first segment which looked great. She had some sound issues during the opening song which communicated through the microphone.
Ballroom guest wasn’t recognised by my friends, so I assume it might have been someone from her entourage. It ended up being Gabriel Massan, the visual artist for the Bedtime Story performance.
During her speeches Madonna joked about the state of the German audience and asked who is drunk, who is high, who is high and drunk and who is sober. She wasn’t satisfied with the answers so she blamed Germans for cheating :)
Here is a gallery of pictures from last night Tomasz shares with the Tribe, some of them are screengrabs from the excellent hour-long video of the show he filmed and you can watch here.
