MadonnaTribe<\/strong> Team member Torontophoenix<\/strong> reports from the first Madame X<\/strong> theatre show at the Fillmore Miami Beach<\/strong> at the Jackie Gleason Theatre.<\/p>\n My first show was last night and it was fantastic! This will probably be a bit of a ramble as I will just type as things come to mind…<\/p>\n I\u2019ll start with my \u201ccriticism\u201d and then move on quick. I will be honest, I didn\u2019t care much for the opening section. Don\u2019t get me wrong, the God Control – American Life<\/strong><\/em> section wasn\u2019t \u201cbad\u201d, it just didn\u2019t flow for me and felt flat at times. Human Nature<\/strong><\/em> was almost boring, and Vogue<\/strong><\/em> didn\u2019t excite me as it normally does. Again the first section wasn\u2019t bad or awful, it\u2019s just not as strong as the rest of the show imo.<\/p>\n That being said, the second section, the Portuguese\/Fado section was STUNNING and that\u2019s when the show really came alive for me! I can\u2019t find any fault or criticism with this section, I loved everything about it!<\/p>\n From Batuka <\/strong><\/em>to I Rise<\/strong><\/em> the show is up there with her best, IMO.<\/p>\n Oddly, the couple seated next to us (probably in their early 60s and dressed like they were going to an opera) left after Dark Ballet<\/strong><\/em>. Very strange to me why someone would pay all that money and not stay to watch? lol<\/p>\n Another couple a row behind us booed when she talked about a woman\u2019s right to choose and left. I guess they were offended? lol<\/p>\n Other than that the crowd seemed really into it and seemed to love her banter!<\/p>\n The show started just after 11pm but I think it\u2019s because there were so many people just hanging out in the lobby and they were desperately trying to get them inside. I went to the washroom just before 10:30pm and the lobby was rammed with people and ushers etc were trying to get people to go take their seats.<\/p>\n I\u2019m freaking exhausted right now so I can\u2019t think of what else to say because we got day-drunk at The Palace drag-brunch and then the show went until 130am. Yesterday was proof to me that I\u2019m no longer in my 20s lmao<\/p>\n I\u2019ll just say if you haven\u2019t got tickets yet and have the opportunity to go that you shouldn\u2019t miss this tour because it\u2019s definitely unique and nothing like M has done before!<\/p>\n Oh two more quick things …<\/p>\n 1) the person who bought the Polaroid<\/strong> was a woman named Kara who paid $3000 for it. When Madonna asked what she did for a living Kara said \u201cgeneral surgeon\u201d but Madonna had a surprised look on her face because Madonna thought she said \u201cgenital surgeon\u201d lol Madonna then laughed and said \u201cok good I don\u2019t need any work down there … yet\u201d<\/p>\n 2) the beer bitch<\/strong> was a guy who said that growing up as a young gay man in southern Michigan in the 1980s back when there was no \u201cit gets better\u201d campaign was very tough. He got emotional and thanked Madonna for being one of the first to say it\u2019s ok to be gay and be yourself because she saved his life and if it wasn\u2019t for her he might not be here today. Unfortunately I don\u2019t remember his name, perhaps Robert? It was a really nice touching interaction.<\/p>\n Madame X<\/strong> returns on the stage of The Fillmore Miami Beach<\/strong> tonight, and will perform five more shows on December 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22, wrapping up the 2019 North American leg of the tour.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
