The June 2019<\/strong> issues of the magazines considered as the music Bible from each side of the pond hit the newsstands this week, both carring their own short review of Madonna<\/strong>‘s fourteenth studio album, to be released in two weeks.<\/p>\n

The first one is Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/em>, that rated Madame X<\/strong><\/em> 3 out of 5 star in a largely positive review, saying, among other things:<\/p>\n

Yet Madame X is so admirably bizarre, all you can do is stand back and watch the girl go. \u201cIt\u2019s a weird kind of energy,\u201d as she sings in \u201cGod Control\u201d \u2014 a rare moment of Madonna understatement. She dips into a melting pot of Latin-pop styles, complete with a reggaeton jam called \u201cBitch I\u2019m Loca.\u201d It\u2019s for fans of her loca edge only, full of experiments no other pop star on Earth would try.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Moving to British territory, Q Magazine<\/strong> is slightly more generous with a 4 out of 5 stars rating:<\/p>\n

Crave\u2019s delirious swoon, featuring rapper Swae Lee, or the skin-to-skin cha-cha-cha of Medellin keep things at the micro level of human desire but more untethered are the moments where the record zooms out to look at the big picture, as on Dark Ballet\u2019s omnipotent state-of-the-planet address: \u201cthey\u2019re so naive, they think we\u2019re not aware of their crimes\/We know but we\u2019re just not ready to act.\u201d This is Madonna on top of the world, looking down on creation, God complex at cruising altitude.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Speaking of Madonna’s most recent albums, Rolling Stone<\/strong> previously rated Re<\/strong>bel Heart<\/strong><\/em> and MDNA<\/em><\/strong> 3.5, Hard Candy<\/strong><\/em> 4 and Confessions on a Dance Floor<\/strong><\/em> 3.5 stars out of 5.<\/p>\n
