The Seven Year Itch
Madame X, Madonna’s 14th studio album, was released 7 years ago today, on June 14, 2019.
The 7 year (and 19 day) gap between Madame X and Confessions II marks the longest time span between two Madonna studio albums to date or, if you will, the longest time fans ever had to wait or a new album.
Sharing the laurels as the love-it-or-hate-it Madonna album with American Life (how can you just not adore them both?), Madame X marked the beginning of an era where Madonna started exploring different identities and creating new personas. Sounds familiar, uh?
The album brought us an intimate tour experience where Madame X struggled with a serious injury (and, eventually, the beginning of the first pandemics of this century).
It also gave the fans a 23-minute documentary about the making of the album, a concept film from the tour that has yet to be physically released and a soundtrack vinyl.
