Madonna’s Biopic No Longer in Development

According to multiple sources who talked to Variety, the biopic project Madonna has been working on over the past few years is no longer in development at Universal Pictures.

Speculation over the fate of the movie started right after Madonna announced she’s going to embark on The Celebration Tour later this year. Representatives for Madonna, actress Julia Garner – who was said to play the lead role – and Universal Pictures declined to comment.

Sources familiar with Madonna told Variety her sole focus is the new tour, but she remains committed to making a film about her life one day.
