Madonna stars in the new commercial for Brazilian bank Itaú along other personalities such as Ronaldo, Fernanda Montenegro, Jorge Ben Jor, Marta and Ingrid Silva.
The ad is part of their new campaign to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary and it is indeed the then unknown project Madonna was talking about during her show in Paris when she told the audience she had the chance to film something inside the magnificent Opera Garnier, which features in the clip almost as heavily as the Queen of Pop herself.
The commercial was first shown on a private event on Wednesday night, increasing rumours and speculations about the chance that The Celebration Tour would visit Latin America next year, as Itaú is the main sponsor of the Rock in Rio music festival. The bank later stated that the rumours are untrue.
The new ad was introduced by a teaser on YouTube yesterday, with the healine tem novidade chegando (there’s news coming); the 15 second clip didn’t show Madonna – the only person you would may recognize is Ronaldo – but included footage filmed inside the Palais Garnier.
A first version of the clip started circulating before the official release; that one did not include the additional classic Madonna imagery that are incorporated in the commercial when she says I’m always reinventing myself so I can keep being myself.
