Luigi & Iango: Unveiled
On August 31st, 2023 Phaidon press will publish Luigi & Iango: Unveiled, the first monograph on the celebrated photographic duo Luigi & Iango, accompanying the announced major exhibition of their work. Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi worked on the book together with curator Thierry Maxime-Loriot.
The 320-page coffee table volume will feature Madonna on the cover with the portrait that Luigi and Iango shot for The Icon Issue of the European editions of Vanity Fair released in January this year. The book comes with a foreword by Madonna herself and an introduction by Marina Abramovic.
The Phaidon.com website features the book’s detailed description and a few preview pages, including a stunning soon-to-be controversial outtake of the cover image where Madonna appears with the body black man on her lap , in classic pietà iconography.

Luigi Murenu and Iango Henzi (known as Luigi & Iango) are a Swiss-Italian photography duo. Since starting to work together in 2013, they have photographed stories and series for the world’s leading magazines, captured iconic celebrities such as Madonna, Gisele Bündchen, Rihanna, Penélope Cruz, and Cate Blanchett among others.
Thierry Maxime-Loriot is an independent curator, creative director, and author. He curated the globally record-breaking touring exhibitions Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, and Viktor&Rolf Fashion Artists. He contributes to several magazines, luxury brands, and fine-arts museums around the world, working on projects dealing with fashion, music, and photography.
