“Listen to Mother and you won’t go wrong”
Madonna wrapped up two fantastic nights at the Palau Sant Jordi last night, bringing The Celebration Tour to Barcelona.
Two memorable shows with an energetic crowd no short of the one you would expect from the Madonna fans in Spain. The first concert on Nov 1st started at 9.50 and ended two minutes after midnight, the second and final one on Nov 2nd kicked off 8 minutes after 10 PM and ended at 00.14. Don’t be impressed by the late start as it’s quite usual in Barcelona and the shows were advertised with a 9:30 PM start with people still arriving then.
On Wednesday night Madonna debuted a new version of the Jean Paul Gaultier corset for Vogue. The blond hair looked particularly curly on both nights, very Barcelona Blond Ambition. On Thursday night Madonna was wearing grillz with a ditaesque golden tooth during that number and sported braids during the Die Another Day/Don’t Tell Me section of the show. No changes in the setlist to report.
Venezuelan musician and record producer Arca was the dee-jay during the pre-show and served as the guest judge for the first night, Barcelona-born actress Úrsula Corberó played the role the following night – they both had a very hot moment on stage with Madonna and her dancers.
On the last night’s speech Madonna talked about her children and referred to herself as Mother, explaing how all of her fans are her children, too.
The Immaculate VIP Package holders finally received their specially designed merchandise item at the Barcelona shows: a unique The Celebration Tour bomber jacket lined with a collage of black and white Madonna photos , the tour logo on the front and the artwork of four iconic images designed by Jess Cuevas on the back, all wrapped in a beautiful presentation bag.
The show now moves to Portugal! Madonna will perform in Lisbon on Monday and Tuesday next week and is expected to spend quite a few time in the town she has called home during her Madame X era before bringing The Celebration Tour to Paris at the end of the week.
