She Did It 30 Years Ago
On May 10, 1991 – thirty years ago today – Madonna: Truth or Dare (or In Bed with Madonna if you live abroad) was released. The documentary film directed by Alek Keshishian premiered out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival the same year. It followed the Queen of Pop on her 1990 Blond Ambition Tour and lead the path to generations of tour documentaries.
Over the past sixteen years MadonnaTribe discussed the tour in several articles and many interviews. This year we let two major international news outlets lead you on the trip down memory lane:
Rolling Stone: Blonde on Blonde: ‘Madonna: Truth or Dare’ at 30
“Thirty years later, Alex Keshishian’s behind-the-scenes look at Madonna on her ‘Blonde Ambition’ tour remains the template for the modern pop-star documentary.”
The Guardian: Madonna: Truth or Dare at 30 – the most revealing pop star documentary ever?
“The 1991 hit film gave us the pop star at her most open, inviting us into her uncensored world, a far cry from the tightly protected celeb docs we see today.”
