Show No. 2 in Paris
The second theatre show at Le Grand Rex started at 11:05 PM last night and ended two hours later. Madonna performed the short version of her Madame X Tour setlist opening with Vogue with a few unexpected moments.
During the Cape Verde interlude that leads to Batuka the video system had a glitch and went down. They had to reboot the system and Madonna herself came on stage to explain what was happening.
She didn’t look upset and was a relaxed as one can be when you have to deal with a technical issue. She used that time to treat the audience with an acapella version of I Can’t Help Falling In Love and she was about to start singing La Vie en Rose but she was stopped at “des yeux…” by the system back on track and the Batukadeiras Orchestra ready to go on with the show.
The Polaroid selfie last night sold for 2000€ to Jorg after someone else offered 300 more but Madonna said “I’m not sure” and Jorg won the auction in the end.
Security at Le Grand Rex kept making fans in the stalls sitting down, and Madonna wasn’t pleased. In the end she told fans to come forward for Killers Who Are Partying. Security sent everybody back to their seats for Crazy and Madonna protested using the same italian sentence she used the night before – Che cazzo! (what the fuck).
She explained that Madame X practices martial arts, therefore security has to do what she tells them to do and let the fan come closer. The audience got crazy and filled the aisles.
But then it was time for the beer bitch chat (champagne again, bien sûr) and not everyone sat down when Madonna asked them to, and she got upset with the fans. Quite a moment.
After Come Alive and before performing Future Madonna asked if we keep in mind to fight for something in our lives. She said she hopes that everyone one is fighting for something, for themselves, and for the others.
Madame X returns to Le Grand Rex on Wednesday, 26 February.
