Second show in Lisbon – and more filming!
MadonnaTribe longtime friend and contributor Djs reports from the second Madame X theatre show in Lisbon.
Last night Madonna took the Coliseu stage at 10:05 PM and the show finished at 12:35 in the morning.
The band played again for around 30 minutes from 9.15-9.45 PM and then show started twenty minutes later.
About eight songs altogether were performed, including Secret, Who’s That Girl, Like a Virgin as well as non-Madonna tracks.
The film crew members were back again last night. And there were a lot more cameras than on Sunday night, lots of them moving about right up against the stage. They also seemed to shoot a lot more footage. It almost seemed like Sunday was the practise run for the proper shooting last night.
Madonna‘s voice was fantastic again. It makes me so upset when things like Eurovision happens and everyone jumps on the “she just can’t sing live” bandwagon, cos these shows have been incredible. Like she’s said many a time, she’s not the best singer in the world, fine, but my god she’s belted out the songs beautifully these last couple of shows and really given it her all.
Her voice was perhaps slightly – but only slightly – better on Sunday night than it was tonight. She had a couple of off notes but other than she was A+++++
Unfortunately Madonna is still suffering from her injury and mentioned that again during the show, despite this she was in a great mood again and fed of the crowds energy – the Portuguese seem to be loving this show.
Dino D’Santiago was back on stage with Madonna for Sodade. Still no Papa don’t preach in the current setlist.
Just like on Sunday night the fado section went down a storm, the crowd absolutely loved it. What was possibly the “slow”, “slightly more boring” section in the USA shows (I don’t think this, I’m only basing it on reviews I’ve read on here) has become a moment of joyous celebration. There is a real real sense of pride in the audience, and gratitude to Madonna for embracing this music and culture and taking it out to the world. It sounds cheesy but it really was quite beautiful.
The Polaroid selfie went for 1k€ after someone tried to pay with a credit card that had “45k€ of debt on it”!!
The beer chat was with a young man from Germany, a medical assistant dressed up in a bra. She kept telling him off for giving her one word answers.
