Madonna’s Fiery Speech At The Women’s March On Washington
As announced earlier this month, Madonna made an appearance at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C., giving a fiery speech which ended with a live performance of Express Yourself and Human Nature, the latter of which she dedicated to President Donald Trump. Madonna was joined on stage by Monte Pittman on guitar.
She was introduced by Amy Schumer and said: “It seems as though we had all slipped into a false sense of comfort — that justice would prevail, and good would win in the end, Well, good did not win this election. But good will win in the end. To our detractors, who say this march will not amount to anything, fuck you, fuck you.”
“Yes, I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged,” she added. “Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won’t change anything. We cannot fall into despair. As the poet, W.H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War II: We must love one another, or die. I choose love. Are you with me?”
Then Madonna finished her speech by doing a call and response with the audience, chanting: “We choose love.”
