Tour Diary: Next stop: Texas!
The 2016 leg of Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour started with a bang in Mexico City this week! The two concerts at the Palacio de los Deportes have been amazing, with a highly energetic Mexican crowd and a lot of interaction on the stage. A fabulous Odette as Frida was the Unapologetic Bitch on the first night, and a very emotional Madonna added Ghosttown to the setlist on Wednesday and Like a Prayer on Thursday.
Following the first show in Mexico City Madonna’s guitarist Monte Pittman shared his memories on Instagram and wrote:
Tonight’s audience was one of the most amazing audiences you could EVER perform in front of. In the 15 years I’ve had the pleasure of playing guitar for Madonna, this was one of the best crowds I’ve ever seen. What a way to kick off a year and a tour! Wow!
The tour now moves back to the U.S. for the final 10 dates in North America, visiting San Antonio and Houston in Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Louisville, Kentucky next week; Nashville, Tennessee, Atlanta, Georgia and Miami, Florida the following week and then wrapping the itinerary with the concerts in Puerto Rico on January 27 and 28.
Lunice, who has just opened for Madonna in Mexico City will be again the first act in Atlanta, Miami and San Juan. DJ Mary Mac will be the opening act in the other shows.
The Rebel Heart Tour will continue to travel the world in Southeast Asia in February and in New Zealand and Australia in March 2016.
