Stephen Bray says Happy Birthday True Blue!
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the True Blue album, MadonnaTribe brings you a special message from Stephen Bray, co-writer and co-producer of some of the most iconic songs on this album, such as the title track, Where’s The Party and Jimmy Jimmy. His production work on Papa Don’t Preach was also amazing!
Message from Stephen Bray:
Despite the fact that True Blue’s 30th anniversary makes me 30 years older I am proud and happy to have only great memories of those sessions.
I am most grateful to my old friend Madonna for having the vision and courage and moxie to insist that Warners allow her to pick her production team. And that Seymour Stein and Michael Rosenblatt allowed her to make those choices.
I hope it goes with out saying that the True Blue songs reflect the feeling of falling or being in love. Which made for incredibly fun sessions, lots of good times and lasting friendships with some amazingly talented people. Happy Birthday, True Blue!
