My Little Cabaret in Koln!
The second leg of Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour started this week with a double show at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany. The opening night of the European leg took place last night and marked the debut of the new stage set-up in a venue with an all-standing floor. This also means that last night’s and tonight’s show saw the return of the Early Entry pass, allowing you to enter the standing area before the general admission crowd.
Reports from Wednesday night mentioned the number of Early Entry tickets in the 400/600 units range; as usual several fans camped outside the venue in tents to be the first in line when the gates opened, and the line for the “regular” standing ticket holders was huge. Slightly more than 100 “Early” holders are expected tonight for the second show and people didn’t start queueing that early.
As announced by Madonna.com earlier yesterday, DJ Mary Mac opened the show while Madonna appeared on stage at around 10.15 PM. Some reports say the late start was due to some technical issues.
Setlist-wise, the first show got back to the “original” lineup, with Madonna performing Who’s That Girl and no Ghosttown included. Let’s see if the fans attending tonight’s concert will be treated with some surprise…
Updated. And here come the surprises! The entire 80’s Medley was cut from the second show on Thursday night, but Madonna performed Secret (in the same outfit for Living For Love/La Isla Bonita), Fever acapella, Rebel Heart (still with no Gucci costume change), and then the show went on straight to Illuminati.
