Madonna attends Tupac Shakur Broadway musical preview

Madonna attended a preview of “Holler If Ya Hear Me“, the Broadway musical officially opening at the Palace Theatre in New York City on Thursday,

The show uses Shakur’s songs to tell an original story about two young men dealing with life and tragedy in a Midwestern industrial city. Tony Award winner Kenny Leon is directing.

On Monday night – the date that would be Shakur’s 43rd birthday – Madonna attended the preview performance sitting in the third row, with the rapper’s mother and show producer, Afeni Shakur, also in attendance, Mesfin Fekadu at at the Associated Press reports.

Madonna recently posted a vintage picture on her Instagram where she’s seen wearing Tupac’s bandana while watching a baseball match and another shot from a night out with Shakur with the caption: “The real Ballerz Don’t hate!”

Tupac Amaru Shakur died in 1996 at the age of 25.
